I Feel your pain. I worked for these two guys fifteen years ago at a different
company for many years. They are scumbags. They sold the company they had with
two other dirt bags to a larger company that ran it out of business in five years.
Did not give employees any notice and promised employees that no one would loose
there jobs and that they were staying on, in less than a couple of months the new
company fired almost everybody and the four owners left.
They use to sell accounts by getting hooker's for potential clients, class act's.
So don't let them fool you they will walk on anybody to make a buck.

THEY HAVE CHILDREN!??!!

Oh, the irony in this, Mr. Barry. You are the son of a single mother, you have CHILDREN, yet feel comfortable shafting single mothers and their children in your location in CHICAGO with its filthy, destructive rat population? My child lost clothes, dolls, HER BED due to your negligence,  and I as a single mother not only struggle with this financially but emotionally and have to cope with MY DAUGHTER'S GRIEF AS WELL. But you got a TAX BREAK  and managed to get good PR in a hypocritical, sanctimonious way. Meanwhile, how many AG dolls do your girls have? As for Msr. Jodoin, just what kind of person ARE YOU?

Landlords go above & beyond

Updated: September 24, 2012 6:25AM

ELGIN — When Two Rivers Head Start went looking for a location for its new infant and toddler center, the site at 418 Airport Road seemed perfect.
The organization not only found a spot that had the space and accessibility for its families at River Ridge Head Start, but landlords went above and beyond to ensure the center would be finished, executive director Diane Lacey said.

+Chris Barry and +Jean Jodoin, partners at +LifeStorage who own the former Kmart location in far-north Elgin, not only helped work through zoning issues with the city but also donated $100,000 to finish construction on the center.
Barry and Jodoin also gave $10,000 toward the opening dinner and deejay event, held Thursday night.
“They are not too bad for landlords,” Lacey said as she presented them with a plaque thanking them for their service.
“We are grateful for this opportunity to provide this for families and for people in need,” Barry said.

Two Rivers serves families and their children at 13 locations in five counties, from Belvidere to Morris, Lacey said. The River Ridge location, which opened just a month ago, will offer services to 80 children ages 6 weeks through 3; it provides four infant classrooms, six toddler classrooms, and 24 with home-based services.
There are openings at the center for additional children, Lacey said. Parents must work a minimum of 30 hours a week or go to school full-time to enroll their children in the program. Parents pay on a sliding fee scale for the services.

A Community Development Block Grant office is there to help families with short-term needs including medical and dental referrals, a food pantry and help with rent, Lacey said.
The agencies applied for and received an American Reinvestment and Recovery Act grant to pay for construction of the center, Lacey said. However, the grant funding ran out before the agency was able to outfit and stock its classrooms completely.
“Chris and Jean stepped forward and helped us financially,” Lacey said.
They helped not just for the tax deduction but also to give back to their community, Lacey said.
Both said they know what it is like to be considered in an at-risk family, Barry said.

“I grew up on the west side of Elgin, the son of a single mother,” Barry said. “She had two jobs. I had to go without a lot as a young kid.”

As the father of four young daughters, he also knows how important it is for children to have a good education early in life. “That is what I want for my own children,” he said.

Jodoin said he also comes from a poor family and that often it was adults who were not part of the family who helped him become the person he is now.

“For moms trying to earn a living for their kids, they need this,” Jodoin said.
(emphasis added)

YOU HYPOCRITICAL BASTARDS.  WHAT KIND OF VALUES ARE YOU RAISING YOUR CHILDREN WITH?

So, lemme see, LIFE STORAGE..

You  PAY someone to Facebook and Tweet for you and consequently try and mess with mine (you didn't, you dumbass, illiterate fool...) as well as TROLL craigslist, thus sending me nasty, albeit stupid, emails, to hide THE TRUTH from the public, yet you can't own up and settle this matter? What the fuck is wrong with you, you arrogant slimy little bastards? JUST LIKE YOU COULDN'T EXTERMINATE YOUR PROPERTY AND PREVENT THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Guess what? THIS WILL NOT STOP.

And get a clue, Iwona: You choose to utilize social media, it works both ways, doll. The people you work for are assholes. YOU support this reprehensible behavior by scrambling around to do damage control although evidently you don't work weekends. However, as you are seemingly only capable of ripping off other sites with your stupid posts (and maybe even violating copyright laws..), I guess you need to justify your existence in that schlocky organization (ex. Michelle Wight is a loony and Matt Clark is a moron, as was Idiot Fred Weaver).

Until Life Storage resolves this to my satisfaction, it continues. There is otherwise not a damn thing it can do because everything is true and documented and was witnessed, as well as experienced by others.

With over a half-dozen managers over the last five years, Lifestorage of Rogers Park seems to be the poster child for poor management, and a prime example of "how to fail in business without really trying."

After our last report on the improvements, the recent departure of Tim Smith also seemed to mean the departure of respect, professionalism, and common courtesy, as the current team du jour of Marcus and Amanda seem destined to kill business, even from long-time customers, with an emphasis solely built on collecting rent. Have a question about your account? They won't make the time to discuss, and simply announce that they "don't have time to argue with you." Ask for toilet paper for the tenant bathroom? Request ignored. Try for a cup of the gratis coffee, "I haven't made it yet." - accompanied by a shifty-eyed glare. Want a clean restroom? You will be ignored, for almost eight weeks; as trash and dirt accumulate to the point of disease.

Ditto for the hallways.

Accounting issues are met with overlocks, and aggression; along with regular price increases.

Store staff issues have to be addressed with the District Manager, Ms. Shalonda, who under the guise of support, seemingly makes excuses for unprofessional behavior, only to have retaliatory behavior on the part of the aforementioned.

If this was simply a case of 21st century ill-manners, then this all might be ignored, but since the units are not free, then this is a serious issue. Run, don't walk from Lifestorage of Rogers Park.

More Life Storage asshole-isms....

Ed: Ran into the same guy again, today--rarity. But lo and behold, yes indeedy, his mattress WAS COVERED IN MOUSE SHIT! So, Life Storage, you Lyin' SACKS of shit, your rodent problem has NOT been conquered. Asswipes!

So, yesterday, 2/5/13, I run into the guy that I know, mentioned below, who WAS a remaining tenant at Life Storage/RP. Nice guy, paid his rent on time, I am pretty sure, never caused problems, etc. He says he moved his stuff out that morning. I asked him why, he says they were too nasty and unprofessional, plus--and the main reason--a friend of his had extra space he could use for free. So, yeah, that is a no-brainer. He said he estimated paying several thousand dollars over the years. Been there, done that.  They knew he was moving. He gave them ample notice.

IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS MOVE, THEY DISABLE HIS ACCESS CODE. THIS IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. AND WELL WITHIN HIS GRACE PERIOD, THAT ENDS ON THE FIFTH OF ANY GIVEN MONTH, 11pm, thereby violating his lease.  He'd come and went several times that morning, getting organized, etc. with no problems.

They waited until he had started loading his truck and then disabled the code, thus making it a pain in the ass for him to get back in. Obviously loading a truck involved a number of trips. I really hope he checked his stuff for carcasses and shit, but I didn't ask.

Assholes. Really. How much more juvenile can  these people get?

Know about LIFE STORAGE, CHRIS BARRY, JEAN JODOIN

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

“We like to be on the corner of Main and Main,” he says. “It's no different than McDonald's.”

Yeah, no rat-shit.

Old Circuit City in Clybourn Corridor gets new lease on life
(Crain's) — A self-storage company has bought a mostly empty building in the Clybourn Corridor shopping district that once housed a Circuit City, paying about half of the $20 million owed on the property when its lender filed to foreclose two years ago.

A trust associated with Barrington-based Life Storage Centers LLC purchased the building at 1030 W. North Ave. for $10.8 million in March from a venture of Miami Beach, Fla.-based LNR Property LLC, a so-called special servicer of troubled loans, county records show.
Circuit City Stores Inc. once leased about 35,000 square feet, or 31 percent of the four-story, 114,000-square-foot building. But the electronics retailer closed the store in November 2008 and went out of business the following year.

By June 2010 the previous ownership group, led by Chicago furniture dealer Lloyd Stein, began missing payments on a securitized loan encumbering the building, according to a foreclosure suit a loan trustee filed in October of that year.
The LNR venture took ownership of the property in March 2011, according to a sheriff's deed. Mr. Stein did not return a call seeking comment.
Cheri Grossman, senior acquisitions officer for Chicago-based JRG Capital Partners LLC, which invests in underutilized urban properties, says Circuit City was likely seen by its lender as a stable retailer that would generate a reliable income steam. Circuit City began its lease in 2003, with the former owners taking out the loan the following year.

“You could see how you could get a loan that in today's market is hard to imagine,” she says. “But it was done based on the economics of the time.”
Ms. Grossman says JRG toured the property for a possible acquisition but ultimately decided not to bid because they don't have a specific use in mind for it.

“I definitely think it was priced based on the vacancy of the building and the need for a redevelopment,” says Christopher Barry, a co-owner of Life Storage.
Life Storage had been scouting for a site in the area for about five years, he says. He likes the location across from an Old Navy store and other retailers.

“We like to be on the corner of Main and Main,” he says. “It's no different than McDonald's.”
The project will include at least one level of self-storage, as well as retail and office space, Mr. Barry explains. The exact layout will depend on how leasing proceeds. He says one retailer was interested in taking the first two floors of the building; he declines to name the company.
Some of Life Storage's 18 current locations take a mixed-used approach, says Mr. Barry, while others are stand-alone storage facilities.

The Life Storage-affiliated trust in March borrowed $11.7 million from several individuals and a family trust that listed Chicago-based investment firm Performance Trust Capital Partners LLC as its address, county records show. A message left for a Performance Trust executive was not returned.
Mr. Barry says the loan will pay for interior and exterior enhancements, plus fund tenant improvement costs.
The property also includes a 200-space attached parking garage and a basement. Just one tenant, a gym, is currently leasing space in the structure, Mr. Barry says. It occupies about 10,000 square feet, according to real estate data provider CoStar Group Inc.

Life Storage is the best! The only pest control problem they have is the crazy chick on Chicago Craigslist Rants and Raves that constly posts her lies. She couldn't pay her rent so the good folks at Life Storage locked her out. She got mad when they asked her to remove her trash from their property. Now, after creating a blog full of flat out lies, she is constantly posting her sob story on Craigslist. Check it out for yourselves.....she's a nut! I have been storing stuff at Life Storage for years. I use several of their locations and have never had a problem. They are the best in the business.

I ran into a guy that I know...more Loads of Rat Crap

Who was also a tenant during the time of Massive Mice Destruction. Who knew the staff relatively well. Who told me something very interesting.

A former employee, not named in these pages because they were the only person who expressed any concern or compassion for this disaster, apparently had mentioned to him THAT LIFE STORAGE HAD GIVEN ME A COMPENSATION CHECK.

WTF?

This never happened, Rat Kings. One hundred dollars, CASH WAS given as reimbursement for laundry and dry cleaning for items that survived. But that's it. And I signed off on a receipt and clearly indicated that on same.

So, this says, that the Rat Kings were probably lying to their own employees and/or trying to do damage control for the other tenants that remained. Possibly the employee tried to go to bat for this matter, as they got fired shortly after under some pretty dicey circumstances. The person was there throughout and had also repeatedly relayed the complaints to "corporate" to NO AVAIL, but was under Idiot Fred so felt limited in their ability to help resolve it.

Lyin' ass ratfucks. Now, misleading an employee and/or putting out this kind of misinformation I and other reasonable people would consider an admission. Cuz, if ya didn't do anything, there's no reason to lie. Or do damage control.

And there have  been many many many lies. And much much much DAMAGE.

TIF?

So this is interesting. Joe Moore, Ald, 49th, a/k/a Joe LESS, or Joe Schmoe by us veterans in the 'hood, discusses TIF MONEY at Howard and Paulina/Gateway Mall.....

http://chicago.everyblock.com/neighbor-events/jan23-community-meeting-proposed-burger-king-gateway-center-5667329/

Paulina/Gateway Mall, Paulina and Howard Streets, was a pet project of Alderman Less. Its storefronts sat empty for years, despite promises of a cineplex, Borders, bridge from CTA to Metra et al.   Many in the community were against it, but Joe Schmoe cut deals with Dominick's and others and there was questionable ownership and management anyway. It was, however, a flop.

The story goes, The Rat Kings cut a deal with The Ward and whoever actually owned the mall on paper at the time, and figured out a way to deed a portion vertically (yeah, you tell me...), thus allowing The Rat Kings to expand their Empire and the Esteemed Alderman to save his flabbity ass. The Constituency was pissed, as was the facing CTA (who had its own shit going  on). But here's the problem: Moore had TIF money and nobody is really sure whether The Rat Kings nabbed some of that or not. But, as they also own Cobalt Commercial Construction, it did the shitty (see below) "construction" and "built" the cells units, probably not up to code and with half-assed inspections. Golly, though, POSSIBLY, when LSC "sold"  to SimplyStorage (The Predecessor/Successor) either it, or again TIF financed SS. Regardless, Chris and Jean chomped that shit up for pennies on the dollar when SS got in trouble, MAYbe even making their own  money back. Whoo-Hooo!

So, conceivably my tragedy could have actually been financed by my tax dollars. What a pleasant thought. What say you, RAT KINGS??

“We are grateful for this opportunity to provide this for families and for people in need,” Barry said.

REALLY????

BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN SHIT?  HARDSHIPS CAUSED BY YOU

JUST HOW WERE THE ZONING ISSUES "HELPED THROUGH"???

SO CLEARLY, THERE IS A WRITE OFF HERE FOR THE RAT KINGS, AS WELL AS USING COBALT, THEIR OWN COMPANY.  SO IT WAS NOT $100K OUT OF POCKET AND OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF THEIR ROCK COLD HEARTS, NARCISSISTIC FUCKERS.  LET'S JUST HOPE IT'S RODENT PROOFED.

Helix Camera building sold to storage center firm. HOLY FUCK, YET ANOTHER ONE!!

Helix Camera building sold to storage center firm
http://www.chicagorealestatedaily.com/article/20120827/CRED03/120829829/helix-camera-building-sold-to-storage-center-firm

They took advantage of the seller, who was having financial problems. SHAME ON YOU, LIFE STORAGE!~!

I love this, "OUR position is..."

Because listen, YOUR position isn't the only one that matters. This can involve a lot of things, not just [this blog] v. Life Storage.

Here are the FACTS, reiterated and recapped:
  • Life Storage, per its onsite personnel, Matt Clark whatever he is, later its District Manager (?) Deb Rogan and other customers KNEW it had a rodent problem that did not exist during management of SimplyStorage and claimed in February or March of 2011 it was aware, ISOLATING and  aggressively addressing and that rodents were "brought in by a new tenant who was being evicted immediately". She was not and it did not.
  • Fred Weaver, and The Other Employee,  as well as +Michelle Wight knew that the woman next to me was storing food, that there were increased sightings, as well as  insufficient extermination and did nothing for a number of weeks.  Other Employee also stated she had relayed the concerns about the problem to "corporate" and could SMELL the pests and their leavings while in the area  of the unit. See "That African Lady".
  • +Chris BARRY, after repeated phone calls from me to his office, offered one month's free rent, contingent upon my signing A RELEASE, through Jo Lemack. Of course, like a pussy, he refused to talk  to me and I of course refused this offer. This was, I believe May or June of 2011. This indicates HE knew  there was a problem, didn't care and wanted  to cover his rich-getting-richer ass.
  • I requested a unit move in May or June to avoid the problem that  indeed happened. life Storage refused, but then OFFERED in September, again via Jo Lemack "we've changed our mind" (WTF?).
  • So, we moved, October 1, 2011. Leading up to that everybody was so helpful, warm and fuzzy, "we'll do whatever we can to HELP!", says Michelle Wight. (Help?). Meetings,  bins, phone calls, LUNCH! Idiot Fred cutting off my lock and planting a banana. Comping the month of October. Whoo!
  •  I LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF BELONGINGS.
  •  I LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF BELONGINGS.
  •  I LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF BELONGINGS. MY KID NO LONGER HAS A BED.  OR HER DOLL COLLECTION.
  • It  took ten hours to move, there are photos and witnesses. Everything had to be cleaned and inspected. Each  box or bag opened, although some of their BOTTOMS fell out when lifted with shreds and debris (and baby mice) left.  I vomited twice through this ordeal. A live litter was found in a box of dishes. Several mice were observed throughout the process.  How much more blatant can this be?
  • So, I ask LifeStorage what they're going to do about this. Nothing. Upon which we both agreed it was best I vacate their facility.  But here's what they did do: I posted a factually correct accounting on YELP. They hit the fucking ROOF!, little hipsters they wannabe, and Michelle Wight ordered me LOCKED OUT, after begging me to delete it. With a ZERO balance, in the middle of the day and with my purse, money  and keys in the unit, stating I had no valid lease. This was October 16, TWO WEEKS after The Move. Other Employee  and I  discussed me executing another one--I was still under the once originally executed with SimplyStorage, which has a CLEAR SUCCESSOR CLAUSE (Later, LSC attorney Andrew Fuller TRIED to tell me this means THE NEW OWNER'S, LIFE STORAGE IN THIS CASE, OWN LEASE AUTOMATICALLY TAKES EFFECT. Seriously, dude? Just where did you take Contract Law?)--and we decided with two more weeks and no monies owed them, it was silly to.
